Ballenstedt Film Museum

Filmmuseum Ballenstedt

Experience how the pictures learned to walk

A touch of Hollywood wafts around the walls of Ballenstedt Castle, as the film museum is located in the front part of the north wing.

The captivating exhibition, meticulously curated by founder and film enthusiast Heinz Stammer, takes visitors on a journey through film history – from the first technical achievements right through to the 20th century.

Marvel at how an original Laterna Magica from 1890 works and follow its development through to modern film and image projectors, cameras and lenses.

Numerous film posters and fascinating insights into the world of film complement the entertaining exhibition and turn your visit to the museum into a cinematic experience.
